Dr. Buhari Mohammed
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Buhari Mohammed’s dedication to providing everyone access to quality healthcare, regardless of ability to pay, began as a young primary care physician. His passion to increase patient access and experience lead him to a career in healthcare administration where he has spent over 20 years enhancing the healthcare needs of the community. A results-oriented and data-driven decision maker with a proven track record of success, he is not only a change agent, but a strategic thinker that embodies service integration and the Federally Qualified Health Centers’ mission. Dr. Mohammed became CEO of Heart of Ohio Family Health in 2018 and has helped HOFHC lower the cost of care, improve clinical quality, and launch the opening of two additional health centers.
Dr. Mohammed obtained his MD from Ege University, MBA from Capital University, and completed a Community Health Center Executive Fellowship from the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is a member of the YMCA of Whitehall Board, Franklin County Juvenile and Family Recovery Court Advisory Board, United Way of Central Ohio Fitness and Nutrition Board, The Ohio State University Medical Dietetics Advisory Board, the American Diabetes Association of Central Ohio Advisory Committee, and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank Advisory Board.
Yammah Morgan
Chief Operating Officer
Yammah Morgan has been passionate about making a difference in the personal and professional lives of others, especially if it improves the community. Yammah has over 14 years of management experience specializing in customer service, strategic planning and project management. As COO, Yammah directs, supervises and coordinates the overall clinical and business operations for Heart of Ohio Family Health. Prior to joining HOFHC, Yammah managed the compliance program of a large healthcare company where she traveled across the country training other centers on audit readiness.
Yammah holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wright State University, an MBA from Mississippi College, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management. Yammah held the position of Vice President with the National Black MBA Association. She has also volunteered and played vital roles in the Immune Deficiency Foundation and National Hemophilia Foundation.
Dr. William L. Washington, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. William Washington has a strong commitment to improving the health status of individuals and families who are underserved. “I believe we must always put our patients’ needs ahead of our own. Every patient, no matter their circumstance in life, deserves to be listened to and cared for with dignity and respect. I was drawn to Heart of Ohio Family Health because my personal beliefs align with their mission of high-quality, holistic and sensitive care which is operationalized through their vision statements.”
Dr. Washington has served as Chief Medical Officer for HOFHC since 2015. Prior to his career at HOFHC, Dr. Washington practiced as a physician in various capacities. For over a decade, he owned and operated his own private practices in Columbus, Ohio, where he served a large number of minority, Medicaid, low income, and non-English speaking patients.
Dr. Washington is a member of the American Association of Family Practitioners and The National Medical Association.
David Brewer
Director of Clinical Services and Quality
David Brewer is the Clinical Services Manager at Heart of Ohio. David graduated from Indiana University with two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Strategic Management. He has a Bachelor’s in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and majored in Medical Dietetics. Additionally, he has the following licenses and certifications: Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian, Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt in Healthcare, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, and Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. He has over five years of experience with program management and clinical practice as a registered dietitian in the FQHC setting.
He currently manages all the ancillary clinical services and quality improvement initiatives at Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers. In a previous role, he led the implementation of a system-wide food insecurity screening and produce prescription process that has evolved into the largest program of its kind in the US (>17,000 enrollees). He is passionate about creating a system that allows us to help the whole patient by addressing social determinants of health, healthy lifestyle, and behavioral health in addition to standard medical services.
Jenn Schehl
Development and Marketing Director
Jenn Schehl has spent her more than 20-year career focused on increasing the capacity of non-profit organizations who help people in need. She is committed to providing individuals with access to healthcare, and she has been working to further the mission of Heart of Ohio Family Health since it started in 2003. As the Director of Marketing and Development, Jenn leads the branding, marketing, and fundraising strategies for the organization. Jenn has also worked as a Healthcare Development Officer and as a Marketing and Development Consultant for many local nonprofits. Her current work focuses on building partnerships, strengthening Heart of Ohio Family Health’s growing brand, and diversifying their funding.
Jenn graduated from Ohio University with a B.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in English Language and Literature. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Grant Professionals Association.
Jaclyn H. Woodard
Senior Director of Human Resources
Jaclyn H. Woodard has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry and a passion for mentoring, sharing, and engaging with staff. Jaclyn began her career as a Case Manager at a community mental health center before becoming a Medical Practice Manager in both private practice and hospital. Her extensive healthcare experience includes Benefits Pharmacy Manager Administrator and VP of Marketing and COO for a virtual pharmacy with contracts in many states. She has been leading Human Resources for HOFHC since 2012.
Jaclyn has a Bachelor’s in Social Work, is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), and holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, and The Links Incorporated, Columbus Chapter, where she currently serves as Chapter Vice President. She is also a member of The National Smart Set, Columbus Chapter, serving two terms as Chapter President, and most recently as Chair of National Conclave in Columbus, Ohio.
Angelita Thomas
Director of Finance
Angelita (Lita) Thomas has 31 years of experience in the accounting and finance field, with 20 of those years in fund and non-profit accounting as a Finance Manager, Interim Finance Director and Interim CFO. As Director of Finance for Heart of Ohio Family Health, she is responsible for all accounting operations and ensuring that reported results meet HRSA reporting requirements and comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Lita is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration and is currently working toward her Certified Management Accountant designation.
